Application Instructions
General
- Global MAD is a marine-grade, all-purpose coating to protect and extend the life of 99% of all substrates (does not adhere to silicone).
- Global MAD is a single-component water-based product.
- Total Dissolved Solids is 54%. Pot life is 5 years.
- Shelf life is 5 years or longer.
- For porous surfaces, MAD Bond is recommended to be applied first (see Application Instructions – Global MAD Bond).
- For enhanced reinforcement of substrate, Global MAD Fiber Repair is recommended to be incorporated into application.
Conditions
- Relative humidity must be below 85%.
- Surface temperature should not be within 5 °F of Dew Point.
- Temperature must be above 40 °F/ 5 °C for 24 hours after application.
- Do not coat in rainy weather or when freezing conditions are expected before dry times are completed.

Inspection and Substrate Repair
Prior to applying the coating, it is essential to inspect the surface to identify any substrate issues. If repairs are necessary, such as cracks, holes, or damaged areas, they should be addressed and fixed appropriately to ensure a stable and even surface for coating application.

Surface Cleanliness:
The surface must be thoroughly cleaned to eliminate any grease, oil, dirt, or contaminants. This can be achieved using degreasers, cleaners, solvents, or chemical strippers. It is crucial to ensure that all cleaning materials are neutralized before proceeding with the application.

Surface Dryness:
The surface must be completely dry to the touch before the coating can be applied. This prevents any moisture from interfering with the adhesion and curing process of the coating.

Surface Stability:
To achieve a smooth and uniform coating application, the surface should be stable and free from loose materials, rough edges, and debris. Hand tools, power tools, abrasive blast cleaning, or pressure cleaning may be used to achieve a stable and suitable surface condition.
- Stir (agitate) before use.
- Method of application is either dipped, brushed, rolled or sprayed.
- Coverage is approximately 100 s/f per gallon (22 Mils wet; 11 Mils dry; there is 50% evaporation).
- Coverage for waterproofing protection is approximately 50 s/f per gallon to achieve 22 dry Mils, which is the minimum.
- Global MAD is applied in multiple thin coats until proper coverage is achieved.
- Must be dry to the touch before next coat is applied.
- Dry time is approximately 1 to 4 hours.
- No limit to number of coats to achieve greater protection.
- Spray equipment recommended to be tip size of 25 or larger and pump to 1to 1.5 GPM (may need to remove filters) and use 3/8 hose or larger.
- Use water to clean surfaces while Global MAD Global products are still wet.
- Use acetone to remove dried Global MAD products from surfaces.
